Heroic Stupidity

May 16, 2008

On 13th May 2008- 720pm:

I don’t know how many of you will have thought of a time that you had acted as a hero and found yourself suffering. Well, i’m talking about my 2nd dental appointment when…

Doc: Do you want to have the thicker braces or will you be still better with the thinner one?

Me: Thick one ok…
Doc: Are you sure?
Me: Yah!
***Doctor getting ready***I comfortably got on the seat***
Doc: You sure?
Me: I want my teeth to be nice fast..
Doc: Ok. Do keep panadols (pain killers) with you.
***thinking to myself- he is kidding right?***
So… doctor fixing my teeth…
Doc: Remember to keep panadol with you. When it hurts take some ice cream. It helps to soothe your teeth

****oh no….he is not kidding…….****

Doc: Ok, done! Try bite…How do you feel?
Me: *bite* I feel good!
Doc: Good? Good… have your panadols ya…

The moment i stood up from the chair.. the side of my head hurts! Guess what did I do next….
*stopped at a Sundry shop to get panadol… *roll eyes*

Lesson to learn: Hokkien saying: don’t act smart!

Single and Loving it!

May 13, 2008

When my parents were around last weekend, I slept in the guest room while they slept in mine. I randomly picked up this book by kate mcveigh- Single and Loving it! Living life to the fullest. It was really easy reading and guess what? I finished it! Ahaha…

Most relationship books (specially for singles) would often talk about a few general things:

  • Don’t settle for second best
  • God will provide the best
  • Keeping yourself pure before marriage
  • Single-hood is not lonely

I like best about this book is when the writer writes about preparation time is never wasted time…

We need to prepare and become like the person we’re believing for. “If you are 10 pounds overweight, you can’t say you don’t want someone who’s even one pound overweight. In other words, if you want someone who is toned and gorgeous, then YOU need to work at becoming more like that. If you want someone who is good with money, YOU need to become a person who is good with money…”

· Spiritual Side preparation- besides prayer, bible studies and attending church (spiritually growing)

· Natural Side Preparation- prepare yourself physically. Look your best, Set some goals. Whether you like it or not, physical attraction is always first impressions.

· Prepare yourself domestically- When you get married, you’re going to have to live with someone. So start preparing now to be someone whom a person would want to live with.

· Prepare yourself financially- If you want to marry someone who is debt-free, then start working on being debt free yourself.

· Prepare yourself socially- Ladies, allow men to be gentlemen. Men, learn how to be a gentleman. Respect

Few things I remember about this book…

  • · Am i called to be single? – If you want to be married, then you’re not one of those called to be single. “delight yourself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desire of your heart”- Psalm 37:4
  • · Sometimes people wants to remain single out of fear and not because God is leading them to be single.
  • · To be financially secure…Genesis 2:15, Genesis 2:21, 22 says that God gave Adam the job first, and He gave him a wife. Job first, wife second. (To my still studying friends, keep this in mind! Hahaha.. )
  • · Don’t think you can change someone after you get married specially important decisions (to have kids or not, someone who believes your vision…etc)
