Roadblocks

December 30, 2007

I was reading this book “notes to a working woman”- Luci Swindoll this morning, and it was bout how we often comes to a roadblock in our lives and get stuck. Can be for a while, sometimes longer…

Few things i learnt:

  • Roadblocks are wonderful character builders that helps us grow- “nothing changes until we get sick of ourselves.”
  • Roadblocks are like bad habits- can be changed with the help from God and determination
  • Process is the key to all success. The more you endure and understand process, the more you gain.

The author mention 4 common roadblocks – fear of failure, procrastination, transition and poor communication. Guess which one i can best relate to and was grinning knowing that’s me?

…Procrastinators are interesting people, often very charming, because they spend their whole lives operating and talking in the realm of potentials and possibilities, in a fantasy world of fun and games. they’re sidhful thinkers, looking for more time than there is on the face of a clock or from dawn to sunset….

A procrastinator:

  1. constantly assessing how much they left to do and how little time they have to do it in, instead of using the time to get it done.
  2. put aside things/task that they don’t know how to handle
  3. feel overwhelmed or dislike what has to be done
  4. operate under the eleventh-hour syndrome because it gives them a high (adrenaline pumps and mind races that added to excitement rather than boring routines).

As much as i want to deny this fact, there are alot of truth in that! :P If anyone of you are like me… here’s some tips for sharing:

1. Identify the Types of procrastination situations
2. Divide the task into manageable parts;

  • Nothing of value is accomplished overnight. Everything is process and process takes time
  • Start early and work a bit at a time. If needed, chart your course and your progress on paper. Never give up!
  • Stay calm when faced ’scary’ issues
  • Start at the beginning and systematically move towards completion.

3. Don’t ever wait to be Prodded (reminded to do)
4. Save some prime time for yourself

  • “if you are a busy professional that have a tendency to procrastinate beacuse of overwelming duties unrelated to work, delegate some of those task. The change in your spirit will amaze you…” (eg: hire cleaner to clean your house if each day you come home and gives you headache by looking at the mess)

… i determine to sprint out from this category from just charming with dreams without action… but putting action into dreams…

I am Legend and Vibe

December 28, 2007

Watched I am legend with a good friend last night. Brought her dinner that i owed her since her birthday on 27th Nov. Was great catching up with her though both of us are pretty tired. Few things i like about the movie…

  • How ‘the hero’ was so determined to find the cure… – he was living for a cause.
  • How he make his firm stand at ground zero…- he knows his purpose.
  • How he choose to be the light in the dark..- he knows his calling
  • The lady (Anna) obedience in listening to God and expressing that though was shouted at and still stand firm with her hope/faith/peace…- She wasn’t ashamed of Jesus

Cause me to think, if I were Will Smith… am to live for a cause with family killed, no human communication, finding for a hope…for 1006++ days, going through a process of:

receording->trying->hoping-> and failing …

I don’t think i’m able to hold onto a cause…but it really inspire me…

2008 Heartbeat!

December 27, 2007

I don’t know how many of you are looking forward towards 2008 but i know i wasn’t cos “i didn’t know what and nothing to look forward to” a week back before i did my little DREAM BIG 2008 resolution. It’s fun when you dream without limit…it’s free anyway…

Paraphrased- He once said this… “you don’t need a planner because your mind can remember them all… That’s great… but is it because you don’t have alot of things to remember? Are you really living to the fullest?” Ouch! but true.

…once you take your widest dream to put into your heart and want to REALLY do it…your heart start to pump, my fingernails tends to get shorter or start disappearing, my whole mind focused into that dream-realm… I like that feeling. And always for us.. there is always a big BUT… all our short-comings, all our fears .. all our ‘party-poopers’.

Friends, whatever it is… let’s do this…

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners, [a]

2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn… Isaiah 61:1-2 (thanks Kel for the word)

I’m so looking forward to breaking from the usual heartbeat and breaking into a whole different sense of life in 2008… Got to have a whole lot of endurance, determination, hardwork and most of all.. the God-factor… I know I am weaker than i look, but you are strong… and I’m nothing without you…
